Problem
Incorrect flat pattern setup in Inventor can lead to incorrect 2D dimension extraction, manual orientation correction after DXF export, and potential front/back side errors. There is room to improve both accuracy and efficiency through automation.
Goal
before exporting DXF, check in IPT:
- Sheet thickness matches description (exception for V-grooved parts)
- Unfold pattern exists
- A-side representing finish face up
- All folding definition can be unfolded
- Unfold pattern has finish side facing up
- Unfold pattern has arrow facing to the right
- Unfold size is under material size limit
